Common Delivery Challenges and How We Overcome Them

At Willow Prairie Portable Buildings, delivery day is one of the most exciting parts of the process. Whether you’ve ordered a Utility or Garden Shed, Cabin, Garage, or Studio Office, we love to hear positive reactions when their new building arrives on site. But we also know that every property is different—and sometimes, challenges come with the territory.

Here are some of the most common delivery obstacles we encounter—and how we work to overcome them smoothly and professionally.

1. Tight or Limited Access

The challenge: Narrow driveways, trees, fences, or steep turns can make it difficult to get a building into place.

Our solution: We use a specialized piece of equipment called a shed mule, which allows us to maneuver your building into place with precision—even in tight or uneven spaces. Occasionally we’ll ask for photos or take a look on the GPS at a view of your site in advance to plan the best route.

2. Soft or Wet Ground Conditions

The challenge: Muddy, soft, or recently soaked ground can prevent our truck or mule from safely delivering your building.

Our solution: We monitor weather conditions and communicate with you about the site’s readiness. If needed, we’ll reschedule delivery to protect your property and ensure a successful placement. While it is not always necessary, we also recommend preparing a solid gravel pad or foundation to support the building long-term.

3. Unlevel Sites

The challenge: A sloped or uneven area can make it difficult to set your building level and stable.

Our solution: Minor leveling adjustments can be made on-site using treated blocks during delivery. However, for more uneven areas, we’ll advise you on proper site prep before delivery. A well-prepared foundation ensures your building is secure, properly draining, and long-lasting.

4. Unexpected Obstacles

The challenge: Low-hanging power lines, hidden stumps, buried sprinkler lines, or last-minute surprises.

Our solution: We encourage full transparency and a clear site check before your delivery date. If you're unsure about anything, text or call Michael at (260) 319-1160 to talk it through. We're happy to walk you through a quick site inspection checklist to help you avoid delays.

Delivery Day Should Be Exciting—Not Stressful

We’re committed to making your delivery experience as smooth as possible. With years of experience and the right equipment, we’re ready for whatever your property throws at us. The more we plan ahead together, the better the outcome.
